Resident Assistant

DAYS/HOURS/SHIFTS: FT varied shifts/days and PT 11pm-7am, including weekends.

JOB SUMMARY: To assist in the provision of resident care by performing non-licensed nursing/caregiver duties under the direction and supervision of a designated licensed nurse or the Assisted Living Services Director following established policies and procedures.

QUALIFICATIONS: Must be able to become Caregiver certified in Supervisory, Personal and Directed Care levels by an instructor licensed by the Arizona Department of Health Services. Must have earned High School diploma or GED. Three-months previous experience in a hospital, nursing home or assisted living setting. Must be at least 18 years of age. Effectively read, write, and communicate in English.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS: May be exposed to communicable diseases, and blood and body fluids that may contain HIV and/or HBV. May be exposed to cleaning chemicals and offensive odors. Must be able to assist in the bathing and dressing of residents with disabilities and push a wheelchair with residents weighing up to 200 lbs. Must be able to reach above shoulder level, bend, squat, crouch, kneel, balance, turn, push, pull the majority of the work day in order to assist residents, move equipment and perform other related tasks using proper body mechanics.
